Murray School District
In 2010, the Murray School District took action to mitigate against future earthquakes by undergoing a multi-year retrofit program to bring campuses up to current seismic safety standards. Seismic hazards were a primary source of risk, as the schools in need of retrofit were constructed in the 1950s-1970s.
VIE wrote FEMA grants totaling over $3.0 million to partially fund the seismic retrofit of six elementary schools in the Murray School District. These helped fund the District’s multi-hazard mitigation plan and seismic retrofit of the Riverview Junior High Complex. Once the grants were funded, VIE was the project manager for the design and construction as related to execution and administration of the grants.
Successful grant writing can mean the difference between projects moving forward or being delayed and/or canceled. Here at VIE, researching the status of grant programs is a key component of what we do. We study all aspects of a project in order to determine if grant funds may be available, such as from FEMA, EPA, state governments, and more. We often write entire grant requests with close coordination with client-specific project needs.
VIE’s win rate for grant applications exceeds 90%. To learn more about our grant writing, benefit-cost analysis, grant management, or any of the seismic engineering services that we provide, please don’t hesitate to contact us today.
