United Fire Authority Grant Writing
Grant writing is among the seismic engineering services that VIE provides. VIE has a grant-win success rate that exceeds 90%. One of our grant writing projects was for the United Fire Authority.
United Fire Authority hired a structural engineering firm, KPFF, to perform the seismic review of all 25 of their fire stations. It was uncovered that Unified Fire Authority then had 4 stations needing structural retrofit, while others needed MEP retrofit.
UFA retained VIE for our grant writing services. We wrote an all-encompassing grant to do all of that work in one grant. The grant was approved, and over the next 3 years, UFA selected and utilized general contractors to do all seismic retrofits. The total budget was about 2.6 million dollars, but all work was completed about $200,000 under budget, on-time and on-schedule.
While VIE did not do any design work on this project, VIE coordinated it with Utah, UFA, and FEMA throughout the construction process to ensure the success of the grant.
