Data Center Expansion in Salt Lake City, UT
VIE is currently completing a major new data center expansion in the Salt Lake City area. This fast-tracked project included seismic bracing design for many aspects of the facility, including suspended electrical systems, computer equipment in hot aisles and cold aisles, as well as service rooms like major electrical equipment.
This facility incorporated many of the latest changes in computer facility design needed to accommodate the higher computer capacity required for AI. The complexity of facilities is more, the power demands are more, the electrical system design is more complicated. Performing seismic design for electrical systems and communication infrastructure is more complicated. Modern computing facilities are becoming more complex and denser which needs to be coordinated in the design.
During this design, VIE coordinated closely with other design disciplines, such as the hot aisle containment structures, designers for interior building partition walls, ventilation equipment, and more.
