About Our Mission
VIE stands for Value Innovation Engineering, a perfect summary of our mission. Our consultants are focused on applying ingenious, value-based, scientific, and economic principles to help clients manage risks posed by natural hazards. Our services are built on achieving optimum safety, functionality, and cost-effectiveness so that our clients receive work that doesn’t just meet code-requirements – it goes above and beyond for true value innovation engineering.
What We Do
Our engineers have completed seismic designs for a wide range of facility system components including: mechanical equipment and piping, electrical equipment, process equipment and piping, computer systems, specialized government and private sector manufacturing equipment and systems, as well as non-building structures, such as tanks. We work with CFC in order to fulfill all the seismic bracing needs clients have, from the design itself to bracing equipment.
Our engineers have been responsible for risk analyses of hundreds of buildings and facilities throughout the United States and abroad. VIE assists clients in all phases of hazard assessment and risk reduction, from initial assessments through financial planning and construction. VIE applies first-hand disaster assessment experience to assist clients in development of emergency response plans and training programs. VIE has personally investigated many natural disasters, from the 1987 Whittier Earthquake to the 2005 Katrina Hurricane and more.
VIE has been the engineer of record for seismic retrofit projects for a very wide range of governmental and private sector facilities. We have served as the multidisciplinary team leaders on many seismic retrofit projects, leading teams of civil & structural engineers, architects, MEP engineers, cost estimators, and construction administration professionals.

Message From The Founder
“I founded VIE in 2006 after 25 years of risk analysis, planning and mitigation design experience with several firms ranging from a few engineers to many thousands of engineers.
“This experience took me to earthquakes and natural disasters throughout the United States. I was afforded the privilege of being a designer, project manager, client representative, research scientist, author, post-disaster volunteer, and technical reviewer for projects involving hundreds of buildings and facilities. Knowing that I have participated in making these facilities safer and more resilient to earthquakes and other natural or human caused hazards has been very rewarding.
“The purpose of VIE is to carry this experience forward and provide highly efficient risk assessment and risk management services to clients. A small firm by design, VIE will assist our clients in understanding, managing, and mitigating natural and manmade hazards in a cost-effective and technically-thorough manner. Only after we carefully listen to and understand our clients’ needs will we offer alternatives to solving problems.
“At VIE, risk assessment, risk management consulting, and disaster-resistant design are much more than just a job or even a business. These are services that we believe in and are privileged to help you with.”
